So excited to come back to college and work after a long, extended
festive weekend, said no one ever! Well, it’s quite true that the first 5 days after the weekend are
the hardest! After a fun-filled and colorful Holi weekend, I was still in the
festive mood and honestly, didn’t want to come out of it. However, on Monday
morning, reality struck me and I had to accept that weekend is over and its
time to get back to work.
So, after identifying different opportunity areas that we could
work on, this week began with finding appropriate design solutions to solve
those problems. Out of all the problems that we identified, I’ve chosen to work
on improving the shady and dull surroundings that the printing press has. If
you look at the word ‘shady’, it means any
place that's protected from glare and light and basically something that’s
fishy, unsafe and lacks brightness and vividness. However, ‘being shady’ is
just a perception and after I realized this, I had to think of a solution that
could put an end to this perception.
Considering the meaning of the word, the first thing that came to
my mind was that the area needs color.
Now, the question that arose was how do I add color to the area?
One interesting way in which I thought I could solve the problem
was by creating colorful graffiti
or artworks on the outer wall of the press, keeping in mind the theme of
weddings because the press majorly deals in making wedding cards and boxes.
This, I thought could solve two problems, it would not only make the area look
more bright but will also help to attract the attention of the people passing
by and solves the problem of promotion. Moreover, this design solution is
feasible and practically possible according to me.
That’s all from me, for now. Really looking forward to the
feedback that I get on the solution that I’ve come up with. Also, if there’s anything more interesting that
you would want to share with me, please share in the comments below.
