Naraina Vihar Market

Insides of the market

Initially, my group wanted to work on Bharti Pan House in Naraina Vihar after exploring only a part of the market at 9:00 am.

Places were mostly shut so after a quick breakfast at McDonald's, we headed to explore the market a little more after 11:00 am.
We finally came across a printing press which didn't only have a basic factory but they also made customized products along with the growing business of wedding  cards and customized boxes!

Indicolour Prints is a New Delhi, India based designer of invitations. Their clients come from all over as their company's name is synonymous with 'elegance' and 'style'. From wedding cards to anniversaries, baby showers to birthdays and inaugurations to parties, their innovative-designed, personalized cards can add a touch of warmth and style to any and every occasion.

We got to speak to two of the three owners of "Indicolour Prints" in the course of the week along with their head designer and a few more workers in the factory whilst our study of the set up.

(THAT ^ is just an inbetweener of my little planner brochure I made after the first field visit!)

We spoke to them and got to know the basic working of their work space. We inquired about everything starting from their brief history, raw material suppliers and their customer profile to what their aspirations and aims for the future.

Initially, I noticed the objects used in their space. Everything from their chairs, sofas to their show case shelves and cabins.

When asked about how they promote themselves, they gave us a visiting card, showed us the stickers they apply on their boxes before delivering them and otherwise, said it's mostly word-of-mouth and that they also call clients sometimes. They also mentioned about their new upcoming Facebook page which should be out in 10-15 days!

Then came the 'exploring the factory area' part where I noticed how all the workers did their job! All so skilled and into their work..

Then came the neighbourhood aspect which consisted of PVR Cinema, the main entrance to the market, two pan shops, a chinese van food joint and an anda-bread shop to begin with..

Exploring in the rickshaws

With all of this combined together, we got an essence, a feel, a mood of the space.
In my opinion,  it was a calm and quite place to work at. Also, the aroma of printing presses is wonderful!
