Week #5 (Part 2) Critical Analysis [Riona S. Roy]

Critical Appreciation of my 4th post about week 4

Features to cover :

1 Word by word
2 Spelling and grammar/ No slang
3 Does your writing convey your ideas effectively? (Yes or No) Describe how and why?
4 Gestalt/Wholeness : how well does the title and content both visually and textually compliment each other?

BAND BAAJA BANQUET!

The title of the post is very catchy and colourful but as Chris ma'am said it comes off as a little contrast to the way the content is written. The title may seem informal and personalized but the write up is put together in a very formal manner.
Therefore it disturbs the balance of the post in whole. Even though the language and grammar is correct without any spelling mistakes, the writing seems to be a little restricted and not in a certain flow. The post does capture the ideas of the title, It conveys my ideas effectively as all the main points are covered and as a whole the post is complete and apt. The words are pretty much to the point. Overall the blog is pretty factual too. The colour scheme of the blog and the posts are pleasing to the eyes. Also the blog post is pictorial and not just textual which evokes the interest of the reader too.

Week #5 (Part 1) [Riona S. Roy]

A power packed weekend with Pearl Utsav 2015 and loads of fun led to the beginning of the new week ahead. Week 5!

After fixating on the display in banquet hall ideas, I further started exploring my opportunity area and design solutions. With the help of feedback and inputs from Prachi ma’am I got into the depth of my idea.  I started with working on my critical design parameters. Need identification, costing, data analysis, materials usage, customer target ratio etc.

I then created a Pinterest inspiration board, through which I branched out various display ideas and put it all together. Then I compared all my ideas via critical design parameters and designed final ones. I sketched, clicked and explored.

On Tuesday morning our group presented and our presentation mostly got positive reviews. Prachi ma’am pointed out our improvising areas in the feedback. She liked the idea of all the group members connecting their themes with keeping their individual essence.

Now I am looking forward to proceed with my design process.

Week #5 Binding [Arushi Nayar]

This week started with a presentation where we showed our teacher as to how we will make our design solution in a tangible form.
After reffering to my teacher I have decided to make origami's out of the paper strip and work with weaving. This way they can add these products as one of the merchandise .

Week #4 (Part 3) [Arushi Nayar]

Not much could be done by the end of the week because we were busy with Pearl Utsav where I was participating in the dance and also involved with the promotional society.

Week #4 (Part 2) [Arushi Nayar]

As we know indicolour is a printing press so they have a lot of waste paper  which causes a lot a chaos in the factory.
Also it uses a lot of walking space because of which the workers have to work in small spaces.
All the paper is just going waste. Hence as design students we can devise a solution which can benifit the printing press .
This week we also presented our problem area in front of the whole class. We got a positive response from our teacher . She just said that we need to structure our research.

Week #4 (Part 1) Collecting [Arushi Nayar]

This week we concentrated on the problem area. As stated in the last post there were a number of problem areas in indicolour prints.
1. The area is too shady
2. Display
3. Lack of promotion
4. Waste management
The area I decided to work on is waste management.

Week #5 (Part 2) [Ayush Tandon]

Today, we gave a presentation before the final display of our outcome with the following guidelines:
1. Need identification 2. Critical design parameters 3. Concept ideas (multiple) 4. Selection / rejection of ideas (why certain idea/ concept works better than the other- evaluation against critical design parameters) 5. Final selected concept
The problem I am working on is that of promotion. The firm is just a year old and therefore needs to promote itself for recognition. Also there aren’t many promotional activities in the firm. The Design Parameters I chose were Help in promotion of the Firm and its products. Minimal Cost ( it can print their own brochures and posters as it is a printing press ) My Final selected concepts are multiple brochures and Posters..
