After extensive weeks of research and analysis, the third week began with finding problems and opportunity areas in the firm that we were working in.
We started with distributing the subtopics amongst ourselves in the group and I worked on the Ambience and Visual Culture of the place. Under my topic I observed the overall feel and mood of the place. The showroom had a festive vibe to it. Whereas, on entering the factory, I felt chaos around me and there was mess because of strips of papers lying all over the floor. Moreover, the factory is located in the Naraina Industrial Area, which is a busy surrounding with trucks, tempos, autos, pan shops, food stalls and of course the laborers and workers. This even adds to the shadiness of the area.
So, after observing the press and its surroundings carefully, I did a SWOT Analysis to be able to find the different opportunity areas and come up with extremely appropriate problems or opportunity areas that could have a good design solution. The analysis is as follows: -
After observing, listing and analyzing the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, many problem areas were identified and they are as follows: -
1. 1. Shady and Dull Surroundings
2. 2. No Promotional Activity
3. 3. Waste Management
4. 4. Visual Display
5. 5. Unsafe Surroundings
We, further, discussed these problems with our mentor and after a brief discussion we came up with a few design solutions. However, nothing has been finalized as yet and we are yet to decide who, amongst the group will work in which area. But we’ll probably come up with a concrete plan by next week. Really looking forward to the coming week.
